About Me
My name is Betsy Nearn, and I’m a detail-oriented, relationship-driven public relations junior with a minor in marketing at Auburn University. My professional experience, including Auburn University’s student-run PR organization the Oaks Agency, The Auburn Plainsman newspaper and serving as a leader for Onward campus ministries, has allowed me to develop a comprehensive skill set in social media management, strategic communication, writing skills and event management.

As a relationship-driven student, the thing I care the most about in the world is my relationships. How can I best serve and love the people placed in my life? I believe the greatest impact I can make is through the way I treat people, whether I’m pouring into my campers at Kanakuk, mentoring freshman girls in my Bible study or deepening my friendships here in college.
I believe that if I possess a certain skill set, it is my duty to invest in them so they can grow. In Auburn University’s student-run PR firm the Oaks Agency, I learned how to manage local businesses’ PR, from writing press releases to creating Instagram Reels. I learned how to advance my skills and improve where I was lacking. This made me realize PR was the right choice for me.
As soon as I stepped foot on Auburn’s campus, I decided I would live outside my comfort zone so I could grow. As I grew in friendships, I decided it was time to reach outside my comfort zone in joining extra curriculars beyond my sorority. This year, I joined the student newspaper, constantly growing under the pressure of tight deadlines and interviewing sources.
